You might fare better with a stainless steel bracket but eventually you’ll back into a minor obstruction and damage your plate or your bracket. Now plastics may seem like an attractive low cost solution, but they don’t do well in sunshine (they degrade under UV light) and will come to fatigue and crack, they don’t do too well in cold weather either!
